The Witch, the Orc and the Princess

The Ashen Pact of the Grande Grimoire

The storm rolled across the black mountains like a wounded beast.

Far beneath the jagged cliffs of the Ironfang Vale, the orcs of the Broken Maw tribe beat their war drums beneath a blood-red moon. Deep within their fortress of bone and volcanic stone, the fairy princess Lysara sat imprisoned inside a cage forged from cold iron roots — the only metal capable of weakening fairy magic.

And far away, hidden within the haunted marshes of Eldermere, three witches gathered around a table carved from petrified wood.

Morgath the Grave-Eyed stirred a silver bowl of burning ink.

Selene of the Hollow Veil sharpened a ritual dagger against moonstone.

And young Vaelith, the storm witch with hair like blue fire, stared nervously at the ancient book resting before them.

The Grande Grimoire.

Bound in dragon hide. Locked with seven skeletal clasps. Whispering softly in forgotten tongues.

“Once we open it,” Morgath warned, “the pact begins.”

Selene nodded grimly. “And the Grimoire always demands payment.”

But there was no choice.

Princess Lysara was the last heir of the Summer Court. Without her, the fairy kingdoms would fall, and the orc warlord Gorvakk would use the stolen fairy crown to awaken the ancient titan sleeping beneath the mountains.

Vaelith swallowed hard. “Then we save her tonight.”

The witches cut their palms together over the Grimoire.

The book opened itself.

The room darkened instantly.

Candles bent sideways. The marsh water outside began to boil. And from the pages rose glowing infernal sigils spinning like wheels of fire.

Morgath began the first incantation in the old tongue:

 “Azrakar… Velorum… Neth Kael…”

The shadows in the cabin twisted into living ravens.

Selene lifted both hands, summoning the Second Seal of the Grimoire — forbidden gate magic. The air split open before them with a thunderous scream, revealing a portal of swirling crimson smoke.

Vaelith hesitated.

Inside the portal she could see Ironfang Vale.

The fortress.

Thousands of orcs.

And something worse.

A giant chained beneath the mountain.

Its eye suddenly opened.

The witches stepped through anyway.

---

The battlefield outside the fortress was chaos.

Orc berserkers charged through the rain wielding axes made from monstrous teeth. Wolves the size of horses prowled beside them.

Morgath slammed her staff into the earth.

“Graves remember!”

The mud exploded upward as skeletal warriors clawed from the ground, ancient kings and forgotten soldiers dragged back for one final war.

Selene spun her dagger in a circle, chanting from the Grimoire. Black fire erupted across the battlefield, forming massive serpents that wrapped around siege towers and crushed them to splinters.

But the orcs kept coming.

Vaelith raised trembling hands toward the sky.

Lightning answered.

A storm unlike any seen before split the heavens open. Blue-white bolts crashed into the valley, scattering the enemy lines in explosions of fire and molten stone.

Still, from the fortress gates emerged Gorvakk himself.

The orc warlord stood nearly ten feet tall clad in armor forged from giant bones. In one hand he carried the stolen fairy crown glowing with corrupted light.

“You are too late, witches!” he roared.

The mountain shook.

Cracks spread across the valley floor.

The titan beneath the earth was awakening.

Inside the fortress, Princess Lysara heard the thunder and closed her eyes in despair — until tiny sparks of silver magic fluttered into her cage.

Fairy dust.

Hope.

She whispered an ancient fairy prayer.

At once, hidden flowers began blooming through the cracks of the dungeon stones.

Above, the witches fought desperately.

Morgath was wounded by an orc spear.

Selene’s fire serpents faded.

And Vaelith realized the terrible truth.

“The Grimoire has one spell left.”

The final spell.

The forbidden one.

A soul-binding invocation.

Someone had to merge with the storm itself.

Morgath stepped forward instantly. “I am oldest. It should be me.”

“No,” Selene replied quietly. “You hold death magic together. If you fall, we all die.”

Vaelith looked at both of them.

Then smiled sadly.

Before either witch could stop her, she seized the Grande Grimoire and began chanting the final rite.

The pages burst into brilliant blue flame.

Wind screamed across the valley.

Lightning wrapped around Vaelith’s body as her eyes became pure white energy.

Gorvakk charged toward her roaring.

Too late.

Vaelith rose into the sky like a living star.

Then the storm descended.

One colossal bolt of celestial fire struck the mountain itself.

The fortress shattered.

Chains broke.

The titan beneath the earth turned to ash before fully awakening.

And the orc armies scattered in terror into the night.

When the storm finally faded, silence covered Ironfang Vale.

Princess Lysara emerged from the ruins weak but alive.

Morgath and Selene searched desperately through the smoke.

At first they found nothing.

Then, resting atop the closed Grande Grimoire…

A single lock of blue fire-like hair.

And a faint whisper carried on the wind:

“The storm still watches over you.”

The fairy princess knelt silently beside the witches.

Far above them, thunder rolled gently through clearing skies.
